What We Do

Our Physical Therapy goal is to return all of our patients to an active healthy lifestyle. We teach all of our patients how to maintain the progress that they gain during therapy, and we strive to provide a rehabilitation environment where each patient can achieve personal goals in a safe and timely manner.

Our specialized areas of Physical Therapy include:

Orthopedic Extremity & Sports Injuries:

Sports injuries and related orthopedic conditions are common. They may result from diseases such as arthritis or traumatic injury to the bones, muscles and joints anywhere in the body (the musculoskeletal system). These include the upper extremities - neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands or fingers. They may also include the lower extremities - hips, knees, ankles and feet.

Stroke Patients & Neurologic Problems:

Nerve disorders can affect your central nervous system (brain and spinal cord), peripheral nervous system (peripheral and cranial nerves) or autonomic nervous system. Neurologic problems can cause pain, numbness, tingling or burning sensations just about anywhere in the body.

Work Injuries & Functional Capacity Evaluations:

Work-related injuries are common. People at work can injure their hands, wrists, shoulders, back, knees, ankles and feet during any number of activities. We offer complete evaluation, therapy and functional capacity evaluations to resolve work-related problems and help you prevent accidents that could affect your livelihood. (Available at Upper Perk Physical Therapy, 2767 Geryville Pike, Pennsburg, PA 18073)

Strength and Stabilization Training:

Strength training is achieved in a variety of methods with or without equipment. Our facility uses aerobic exercise equipment as well as strength training machines and free weights.

Hand Therapy:

Repetitive motion disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome and chronic problems including arthritis are identified and treated. Patients who may have been affected by an accident or trauma, leaving them with wounds, scars, burns, injured tendons or nerves, fractures or amputations of the fingers, hands, or arms, often start therapy within days of the injury or surgery.

Women's Health Services:

Beneficial to women of all ages; treatment for back or mid-back pain, neck pain, as well as other musculoskeletal conditions, and osteoporosis and fibromyalgia.

Fitness & Wellness Programs:

Exercise programs improve strength, stamina and endurance, and promote relaxation. Physical fitness also helps relieve pain, muscle tension, and weakness, fatigue, anxiety, depression and stress. When it comes to physical fitness, there are many programs and many choices around, including YMCAs and the big fitness chains. But there are few medically based programs that combine effective training protocols with specialized exercise and professional supervision to help you achieve greater health and fitness in a safe, comfortable, motivational environment.
